Enables you to enter the information regarding the child or children that have died that is required for validation against the eligibility criteria for parental bereavement leave. This validation is done before proceeding to enter the proposed dates for the parental leave absence and subsequently opening the Parental Leave Processing Details window.

Bereavement Details

Bereavement Date

Display only. The bereavement date previously entered is the date on which the child or children died or were stillborn.

Multiple Deaths

Only select this check box if more than one child died on the same bereavement date. The default value is unchecked, which assumes that only one child has died.

Number

This field is only displayed and enabled when the Multiple Deaths check box has been checked. Enter the number of children that have died. A parent is eligible for two weeks leave and pay for each child that has died.

Paging Area

Enter details for each child that has died on separate lines. On continuing from this screen there is validation to check that the number of detail lines entered matches the number of children that have died.

Stillbirth

Select the check box if the child was stillborn.

Due Date

This field is only enabled when the Stillbirth check box is checked. Enter the date the baby was due to be born. From this due date the bereavement date is validated to be after the 24th week of pregnancy. Where a baby is stillborn after the due date, then the date of birth should be entered instead (the Stillbirth check box is left unchecked).

Date of Birth

This field is only enabled when the Stillbirth check box is unchecked. Enter the date of birth of the child that has died. This date is used to validate that the child is under 18 years old at the date of bereavement. This field should be completed (when the Stillbirth check box is left unchecked) in the case of a child that is stillborn after the due date.

Additional Information

Optional user-defined text field for additional information. May be used to distinguish between more than one child. Can be left blank.
